Anonymous asked: A common theme I see in Christians nowadays is lowering themselves in order to life up God. Like, saying that they're dirty, horrible, and unworthy of good things and and they can't even believe that God could love them. And SO MANY PEOPLE like those posts in agreement. They all hate themselves so much and can barely believe their worth. If I'm a child of God, why can't I love myself? Yes, I know I sin. But I'm worthy of love from the Father AND myself despite my sins. Am I not?
You’re on to something.
Humility isn’t self deprecation.
Humility is having the center of your world not be yourself. It’s realizing that God is the ultimate, the context, the reason, and not you.
Pride says, “I deserve love”
Humility says. “I deserve love because the God of the universe says so. Because He died for me. Because He calls me child.”
Without God we would not be worthy of anything. It’s only, only, only through Him.
